Briefing Floor Leads on Movement Maps
A short agenda for turning wall maps into shift habits instead of decoration behind the supervisor desk.
A movement map fails when it stays in a binder. Floor leads need a ten-minute briefing format they can repeat at shift change without a specialist in the room.
Open with the three paths that matter that day: inbound priority, pick spine, and outbound door assignment. Point to each on the wall sheet. Then name one exception — a blocked bay, a promotional SKU, a dock under repair — and show the alternate route drawn on the map.
Close by asking one loader and one picker to restate the exception route. If they cannot, the map is too abstract or the exception is not marked clearly enough. Revise the mark before the shift starts; do not wait for a weekly meeting.
